OUR STORY
AVM Inc. (now AVM NJ LLC) was established as a small family-owned business by Vijay and Madhu Kapur in 1996 in Northern Virginia. Over the years, the Kapur's experience in electroplating, dedication to quality, attention to details, and cost-effective customer service allowed for AVM to grow into a leader in high-quality precious metal plating.
In March of 2026, the Kapur family sold AVM to the Thistle Family & B&B Electroplating. Corey, Nick, and Russell Thistle are third-generation electroplaters, whose grandfather founded B&B Electroplating in 1960 in Linden, NJ. Over the years B&B has grown as a formidable electroplating vendor for customers primarily in the power distribution field. The Thistles will continue to offer the same services, exceptional quality, and top-notch customer service that customers came to know from the Kapurs.
AVM NJ LLC welcomes jobs ranging from small batch prototypes to full scale production runs. We continue to offer gold, silver, nickel (electroless & electrolytic), and copper plating as well as chemical conversion (iridite) coating and passivation processes. We plate to a variety of specifications from MIL and ASTM to customer specific specs. All plating jobs are visually inspected and tested for thickness using XRF X-ray measurement technology + a certificate of conformance. You can see more about the services we offer below.
OUR SERVICES
Gold Plating
Gold plating is about more than just an aesthetic; it's about function and reliability that customers can depend on.
Silver Plating
A more cost-conscious alternative to gold, silver plating offers the highest electrical and thermal conductivity of all metals, reducing energy losses and overheating in components
Electroless & Electrolytic Nickel Plating
Whether it's your final finish or an underplating for a different finish, nickel is extremely durable, adaptable and cost-effective.
Chemical Conversion (Iridite) Coating
Create a durable, thin protective layer—ideal for aerospace, electronics, and automotive parts via chemical conversion coating (AKA "iridite"). We currently have the capabilities for both clear and gold ridite finishing.
Passivation Processes for Metals
A critical manufacturing process that improves the corrosion resistance, longevity and hygiene of metal components by removing surface contaminants and strengthening the protective chromium oxide layer.
Quality Assurance
Every job that comes through our doors follows our quality control processes to ensure your parts meet the required spec and are delivered on time. A Certificate of Conformance and x-ray readings are provided with all applicable jobs, with options to add various types of testing as needed.
